Blackberry Pearl 8100 can't hear on handset but can on speaker and bluetooth?

I've had a Blackberry Pearl 8100 for alittle under 2 years and yesterday when I made a phone call, I couldn't hear anything. So I tested it with another phone and I can hear myself talk from the Blackberry but I cant hear anything coming in. But when I put it on bluetooth or speaker it works fine. Can I fix this? Or what can I do?

There are two possibilities here.

The speaker on the device is defective... or possible some of the software on the device has become corrupt particularly with the phone application.

If doing this doesn't change anything then at least you will know the speaker is defective, but your workarround of the BT headset provides you with a way to continue to use your device.
