Which leather is better: Lambskin or Goatskin?
I'm buying a pair of Rocking Horse shoes online.
I found two websites that offer them in Lambskin ($75 USD Lolita Lola brand) and Goatskin ($105 USD Dept. 69 brand).
Is there really much of a difference between the two types of leather?
Pros, cons?
PS: And in case anyone knows, which store has better quality Rocking Horse Shoes: Dept. 69 or One Day in Paradise?
For comfort, soften feeling & beauty, use Lamb but would not last......best for children.
Goat is more durable and solid........it is your choice not mine....OK!!!!
Getting cheap leather to not smell so strong?
My elderly mother bought a cheap patchwork car coat from Ebay. It fits her well and as I say was a good price but the odor is so strong that we are having to ask her to keep her door closed and we are burning candles in the rest of the house to mask the odor. It is a patchwork of leather pieces and supposed to be lambskin. The best I can describe it is that is smells like mothballs. My husband says it is smells like a combination of mothballs and sewer. Will the scent lighten up in time? Can we use something to make this offensive scent go away? I have always liked the "leather smell' but this is obviously a case of getting too much of a good thing. Help!!!
I've found backing soda works well for any kind of smell. This is what I would do. Get a plastic container with a lid large enough for the coat. Place the coat in a bag- a pillow sham, garment bag, something that will protect the coast but allow air to flow through. Place the jacket in the bag, seal the bag tightly, place bag in the plastic container, fill with baking soda- you'll need several boxes but they're cheap. Place lid on container, leave for a week. If the small is too strong, repeat process or throw out the jacket!
