Question about using an unlocked GSM phone with T-mobile?
I want to buy an unlocked smart phone or PDA. I have t-mobile. I don't want to have to pay for the data service which is 25/month extra. Will I still be able to access the internet from my phone? Or will t-mobile prevent me from doing so? I understand I may not be able to access certain features, but I was just curious about whether I could still browse the internet without being charged or having to pay the data service fee.
The only internet you will be able to access is going to be very limited. It's an included basic WAP interface that will let you access plan usage and your balance and not much else. On T-mobile phones, you would see download options too, but that's not the case on an unlocked phone because it recognizes the IMEI. After the sim is in the phone, you'll have to call to get the WAP and MMS configurations sent. They do have the occasional system glitch that allows you full internet access, but unfortunately, that's very rare and they eventually catch it.
Info on a CECT P168?
I want to buy a CECT P168 and so far I know it it a a unlocked tri-band gsm pda which operates on 800/1800/1900 mhz frequencies so I've contacted my service providers in the Caribbean the Islands Trinidad & Tobago and they replied saying that they operate on 800/1800/1900 mhz frequencies so my question is will it really work?
Of course it will the frequencies are the same.
