Apple Macbook Air - the Thinnovation
Design
Macbook's looks are stunning, it's only 0.76 inch thick at the thickest point, and is amazingly only 0.16 inch at the slimmest end. The display is 13.3 inch widescreen, with 1280 x 800 resolutions, but the sleek display panel is extremely cool with a beautiful curves at all edges, and everything elegantly rolls towards maximum thickness. If one looks at the laptop from the front, it seems like no thicker than cardboard, and it's only when one moves towards the side when the gradient is revealed, and the full thickness can be seen. The Macbook folds neatly, and despite slim design, everything closes neatly. The weight of only 3 pounds (1.5 kg) makes it handy for carrying round and ideal for those whose notebooks spend a lot of time off the desk. It's painted in beautiful blend of white and silver, with keyboard in black, and the famous apple logo at the back of the display. The keyboard is full-size with crisp keys. But Macbook Air features key illumination, making it easy to work in low-light settings such as airplanes and conference halls. A built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts keyboard and display brightness for optimal visibility. And with the huge multi-touch track pad, it just keeps getting better for the fingers. Overall the looks are extremely elegant, stunning and sexy. It's a beautiful piece of art with a really eye catching design.
Features
Despite its slim design, the Macbook air doesn't lack in features and performance. It's powered by 1.6 or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4MB on-chip shared L2 cache. The chip was custom-built to fit within the compact dimensions of Macbook Air. And it comes with 2 GB RAM, 80 GB hard disk, and with an option to upgrade to 64 GB 64GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability. Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory gives adequate graphics performance but it's not gamers' machines, and the new-generation games suffer, but not everyone's interested in games. 80GB of storage seems little for many users by today's standard, but then there's an optional 64GB solid-state drive and external USB Macbook Air SuperDrive available to enhance the storage capacity. There's also one USB 2.0 port. SO, overall the performance is at par with the mid-high spec laptops, and is ideal for almost every task, and can cope with almost every application without suffering. The backlight LED display allows for an even thinner build. It provides instant full-screen brightness the moment Macbook Air is opened. The display is mercury- and arsenic-free and hence more power efficient, which translates to longer battery life! Macbook Air also includes a built-in iSight camera. The iSight camera and iChat software make video chatting easy anywhere there is a wireless network. The Macbook Air battery is extremely thin, yet it doesn't lack in power, and allows wireless web access for five hours!
Conclusion
It is a highly innovative device, with so many features packed into so little space. Its portability and powerful battery makes it good for travelers.

why don't they put external wifi jacks on laptops?
I have a motorhome and travel a lot. Many parks that I pull into, have "wifi", but are usually very weak.
I would like to put a 2.4 ghz omni antenna on the vehicle roof (a Fold-down of coarse) and hook it up to a laptop inside. But I have searched and searched for any brand laptop that has a "Remote WiFi Jack"
and Best Buy, CompUsa, etc say they don't make them. Why on Earth would they do that. I realize you can buy another usb wifi adapter, but even with a newer model (802.11 a/b/n) laptop which I tried, even dosent get the best signal. They (free wifi hotspots) still transmit, etc in the old
"G" mode 54mps. Is this a FCC ruling or simply an oversite on a very important option???
You're looking at this the wrong way. The wireless adapter in your laptop (or one of those USB things) are nothing more than small transceivers. It's not the purpose of the wireless adapter to increase the strength or direction of the signal. It's job is simply to find an access point, negotiate a connection and stand exchanging data.
The strength of the signal is determined by your distance from the access point. I would think that sitting with your laptop inside a motor home (which is a giant metal shell) is going to have a detrimental affect on the ability of your laptop to find a strong signal. If the park is typical, they're probably using some basic home internet router to provide wireless. They probably need to add access points to different areas of the park to make the signal more available to a wider range of visitors.
This isn't an FCC oversight or an important option. You're the first person I've ever heard mention anything like this, and I've been in this racket for 20 years. Complain to the people running the park. Your laptop isn't the problem.
